Italian Cooperation Delegation Reviews Achievements of Health Resilience Project in Nablus and Comme
Al-Shaab Medical Center in Askar Refugee Camp welcomed a delegation from the Italian Cooperation in a field visit aimed at monitoring progress and evaluating the outcomes of the project “Strengthening Medical and Health Resilience in Palestine.”
The delegation included Ms. Maria Stella, Emergency Projects Officer at the Italian Cooperation, and Mr. Stefano, Health Sector Officer at the Italian Cooperation Office in Jerusalem. The visit began with a tour of the medical center, which was established in partnership with Askar Charitable Society and the Popular Committee of Askar Refugee Camp.
During the tour, the delegation reviewed the various departments of the center, including the emergency unit, the fully equipped medical laboratory established through the project, and specialized outpatient clinics. The center represents a core foundation for comprehensive healthcare services serving the eastern area of Nablus Governorate.
An expanded meeting was also held with community representatives, attended by Mr. Mohammad Abu Kashk, Head of the Popular Committee of New Askar Camp, his deputy Mr. Talal Abu Kashk, Mr. Amjad Al-Madani, Director of Askar Charitable Society, in addition to medical staff, nurses, and trainees.
During the meeting, participants discussed the origin of the project idea from the local community, as well as the role of Emergenza Sorrisi in adopting the initiative and transforming it into an operational project. They also highlighted the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination among partners, and the vital voluntary role played by the local community in supporting and operating the center.
The project team delivered a detailed presentation on the project’s impact and services provided, particularly through free medical days, which witnessed strong community engagement and contributed to addressing urgent healthcare needs.
The delegation also met with doctors and nurses undergoing training and reviewed capacity-building programs aimed at strengthening local medical expertise and ensuring the sustainability of healthcare services.
In addition, the delegation was introduced to the medical equipment provided through the project, including consumables, surgical instruments, and laboratory equipment, all of which have contributed to improving the quality of services delivered at the center.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation visited Rafidia Governmental Hospital, where a meeting was held with the hospital’s management and medical staff. Discussions emphasized the importance of hosting specialized medical missions, particularly for performing pediatric surgeries, and their role in reducing long waiting lists.
Participants also highlighted the challenges facing the Palestinian health sector, including the shortage of specialized medical personnel, the need for advanced training programs, and the importance of supporting hospitals with essential medical equipment.
The participants affirmed that this collaboration represents a successful model of partnership between local efforts and international support, contributing to strengthening the resilience of the healthcare sector and expanding access to medical services for the most vulnerable populations.

وفد التعاون الإيطالي يطلع على إنجازات مشروع تعزيز الصمود الصحي في نابلس ويشيد بالشراكة مع مستوصف الشعب
استقبل مستوصف الشعب الطبي في مخيم عسكر وفدًا من التعاون الإيطالي، في زيارة ميدانية هدفت إلى متابعة سير العمل وتقييم نتائج مشروع تعزيز الصمود الطبي والصحي في فلسطين.
وضم الوفد كلًا من مسؤولة مشاريع الطوارئ في التعاون الإيطالي ماريا ستيلا، ومسؤول قطاع الصحة في مكتب التعاون الإيطالي في القدس، حيث استهلت الزيارة بجولة داخل مرافق المستوصف، الذي تم إنشاؤه بالشراكة مع جمعية عسكر الخيرية واللجنة الشعبية لمخيم عسكر.
واطّلع الوفد على أقسام المستوصف المختلفة، بما في ذلك قسم الطوارئ، والمختبر الطبي المتكامل الذي تم تجهيزه من خلال المشروع، إضافة إلى العيادات التخصصية، حيث يشكّل المركز نواةً لخدمة صحية متكاملة تستهدف المنطقة الشرقية من محافظة نابلس.
كما عُقد اجتماع موسّع مع ممثلي المجتمع المحلي، بحضور رئيس اللجنة الشعبية لمخيم عسكر الجديد محمد أبو كشك، ونائبه طلال أبو كشك، ومدير جمعية عسكر الخيرية أمجد المدني، إلى جانب الطواقم الطبية والتمريضية والمتدربين.
وخلال اللقاء، تم استعراض نشأة فكرة المشروع من المجتمع المحلي، والدور الذي لعبته Emergenza Sorrisi في تبني المبادرة وتحويلها إلى مشروع قائم، إلى جانب آليات التعاون والتنسيق بين الشركاء، والدور التطوعي الفاعل للمجتمع المحلي في دعم وتشغيل المستوصف.
وقدّم فريق المشروع عرضًا حول أثر المشروع والخدمات المقدمة، خاصة من خلال الأيام الطبية المجانية التي شهدت إقبالًا واسعًا من أبناء المنطقة، وأسهمت في تلبية احتياجات صحية ملحّة وتعزيز الوصول إلى الخدمات الطبية.
كما التقى الوفد بعدد من الأطباء والممرضين المتدربين، واطّلع على برامج التدريب والتأهيل التي تهدف إلى رفع كفاءة الكوادر الطبية المحلية، بما يعزز استدامة الخدمات الصحية.
وشملت الزيارة أيضًا الاطلاع على التجهيزات الطبية التي وفرها المشروع، من مستهلكات وأدوات جراحية ومعدات مخبرية، والتي ساهمت في تطوير مستوى الخدمات المقدمة داخل المستوصف.
وفي ختام الزيارة، توجه الوفد إلى مستشفى رفيديا الحكومي، حيث عُقد لقاء مع إدارة المستشفى وعدد من الأطباء، تم خلاله التأكيد على أهمية استضافة الوفود الطبية المتخصصة، خاصة في إجراء العمليات الجراحية للأطفال، ودورها في تقليص قوائم الانتظار.
كما تم تسليط الضوء على التحديات التي يواجهها القطاع الصحي في فلسطين، وعلى رأسها النقص في الكوادر الطبية المتخصصة، والحاجة إلى برامج تدريب متقدمة، ودعم المستشفيات بالمعدات والتجهيزات اللازمة.
وأكد المشاركون أن هذا التعاون يشكّل نموذجًا ناجحًا للشراكة بين الجهد المحلي والدعم الدولي، ويسهم في تعزيز صمود القطاع الصحي وتوسيع نطاق الخدمات الطبية المقدمة للفئات الأكثر حاجة.
