Who we are

Emergenza Sorrisi is the non-governmental organisation dealing with children with cleft lip, palatoplasty, facial malformations, burns, war trauma, cataracts and other critical pathologies in developing countries.

Emergenza Sorrisi unites 642 volunteering doctors and nurses, thanks to whom surgical missions take place in 23 countries of the world.

Up to now as many as 5,720 children underwent surgery and rediscovered their smiles. One of the pillars of our activity is training and updating doctors and nurses; our training paths involve more than 570 professionals at the moment, from the countries hosting our mission.

All the projects of Emergenza Sorrisi in Southern countries of the world envisage local participation - as broad and inclusive as possible. At the moment there are seven local and autonomous offices of the association in Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Georgia and Burkina Faso, Palestine, Mali
