Emergenza Sorrisi (Doctors for Smiling Children) participated in an official meeting held in Ramallah, bringing together H.E. Mr. Khaled Mohammed Al Hardan, Deputy Chairman of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, and the Palestinian Minister of Health, Dr. Mai Alkaila, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in the health sector.
The meeting was attended by a senior Qatari delegation of medical specialists, where participants reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for the Palestinian healthcare system, particularly through the implementation of cochlear implant programs for children with hearing loss, carried out by specialized medical missions.
During the meeting, the Palestinian Minister of Health reviewed the current situation of the healthcare sector in Palestine, highlighting the challenges it faces alongside ongoing efforts to develop health services, strengthen medical staff capacities, and upgrade medical facilities and equipment to better serve the population.
Dr. Mai Alkaila also praised the level of cooperation between Palestinian and Qatari parties, emphasizing the importance of expanding the cochlear implant program and developing a strategic plan to increase the number of beneficiaries and improve access to such essential medical services for children.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Imad Hussein, Director of Emergenza Sorrisi, highlighting the association’s active role as a humanitarian and medical partner in supporting children’s healthcare and specialized medical interventions.
This meeting reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and enhance healthcare services in Palestine, with a focus on improving the quality of life for vulnerable groups, especially children.
